The bandit La Salle had crossed Blondy Graem's trail once too often. Now the time had come for Blondy to go out and settle the score, once and for all.
"Don't be a fool, Blondy," said the captured
bandit. "It don't matter about me, but
La Salle's got a hundred more to take up the
job where I left off."
"I'll tell you a yarn," said Blondy Graem.
"When I was fifteen I found me a partner
and we started out to find gold. We came
to a bad stretch of desert and my partner's
horse stepped on a rock and went dead
lame. "Well, I stayed with him, of course, and
that night we made a dry camp. When I
woke up in the morning, my partner was
gone. The horse he left me was the lame
.. one.
"He was a skunk!" declared Jerry.
"His name was La Salle," Graem answered.
"Don't be a fool, Blondy," said the captured
bandit. "It don't matter about me, but
